Demonstrations at Agri Mega Week 2011

The expression; a picture is worth a thousand words, has become somewhat of a cliché, but when that picture emerges as a live demonstration, the value that it harbours for visitors to this year’s Agri Mega Week becomes so much more, it becomes an experience!

Demonstrations of the various implements at Agri Mega Week, is an annual highlight on the expo’s daily program, which will take place from Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 September 2011, at Mega Park in Bredasdorp, and this year promises to exceed expectations.

With a unique mobile pavilion and sound system, visitors to Agri Mega Week 2011 can once again look forward to witnessing the latest technology on the agricultural front in action.

The Implement Demonstrations are once again this year sponsored by Standard Bank, who has been involved with the expo for many years. According to Nico Loock, Standard Bank’s Provincial Agricultural Manager, the demonstrations during Mega Week are always exceptionally organised, especially in terms of the safety precautions that are always of the utmost importance when it comes to live demonstrations of this nature.

"Standard Bank sees the support of these demonstrations as an opportunity to consolidate its involvement in the agricultural sector, but more importantly, to contribute to the creation of a platform for producers to stay at the cutting edge of the latest technology." He explains that it is important for sustainable production, for producers to be informed and kept up to date with the latest technological developments.

Loock says that although he enjoys the bailer and windrow demonstrations, it is rather the reaction and participation from the producers that stands out annually.

Canola and barley crops have been planted on this year’s demonstration lot, and as in the past, daily demonstrations are planned throughout Agri Mega Week.

Attendance of the demonstrations is free for all visitors to Agri Mega week. Entrance fees for the expo are R25 for Adults and R10 for school going children.
